On Thursday, Mr. Aondo Ver, a senior executive at the Federal Housing Authority, FHA, was kidnapped by suspected bandits in the FCT Abuja.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, and Josephine Adeh of the FCT Police Command were unavailable for comments at the time of filing this report.
The abduction occurred near a military base at the entrance of Bwari, close to Pambara Extension in Abuja.
Approximately 200 metres from the military base, Ver was seized, and the kidnappers swiftly escaped through the bush before security personnel could respond.
Kenneth Chigelu, the spokesperson for FHA, confirmed the incident, explaining that Ver is a staff member of the FHA mortgage bank, an autonomous institution.
Chigelu mentioned that the FHA had scheduled an event today for the handover of 40 housing units to owners in Gwarinpa, which has now been stalled due to the abduction.
Expressing concern over the rising cases of abductions, FHA Managing Director Senator Gbenga Ashafa highlighted the escalating insecurity in the FCT, causing fear and anxiety in the outskirts of the city
