Liberia’s newly inaugurated President Joseph Boakai experienced a health scare during his speech, almost collapsing and requiring assistance to leave the ceremony at the Capitol Building in Monrovia.
The 79-year-old, rumoured to be in poor health, had spoken for about 30 minutes before it became evident that he was struggling.
The event was abruptly adjourned as he was surrounded by aides and members of the executive protection service.
Boakai, now Liberia’s oldest president, faced challenges during his inauguration due to apparent health issues.
