The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has called on Nigerians to remain patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The monarch made this appeal during a visit by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to his Iga Idugaran palace in Lagos.
Oba Akinlu emphasised that President Tinubu has the nation’s best interests at heart, describing him as a leader deeply connected to the grassroots.
“All that I am saying and appealing for is that we should pray for Nigeria and the president. We should be patient. Everything good needs prayers,” the Oba stated.
In his address, the Oba also urged Nigerian youth to maintain a close relationship with God, praising the majority as good and hardworking.
However, he pointed out that some youths are “incurably lazy and always waiting to be spoon-fed.” He advised, “Teach them not to always wait for fish but learn how to fish themselves.”
The First Lady’s visit provided an opportunity for the monarch to reiterate his call for special status for Lagos State, given its historical significance as the former Federal Capital of Nigeria.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, accompanied by wives of some South West Governors, National Assembly members, ministers, and service chiefs, expressed gratitude to the royal father for his unwavering support, prayers, and guidance.
“I assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do well for this country,” Senator Tinubu said. “He loves Nigeria, he loves Nigerians and will do the best for them.”
Senator Tinubu also assured that the request for special status for Lagos State would be given attention by the National Assembly through Lagos representatives.
The visit concluded with traditional blessings bestowed by the Oba of Lagos.
