In a significant display of support and commitment to youth development, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced a series of initiatives during a visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Lagos.
Addressing a gathering of corps members, Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the state government has approved a substantial sum of 5 billion naira for the construction of a new permanent NYSC campsite in Lagos.
This initiative aims to provide modern facilities and enhance the experience of future corps members serving in the state.
Furthermore, in a gesture aimed at immediately benefiting the current batch of corps members, the governor announced that each passing out corper would receive 100,000 naira. These funds are scheduled to be disbursed directly into their accounts within the coming week.
Mr.Sanwo-Olu also declared that the top 100 performing corps members from this batch would be granted automatic employment into the Lagos State Public Service upon completion of their service year. This initiative aims to recognize and reward excellence among the youth, encouraging them to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
As a practical measure to support transportation needs within the camp, the governor also presented a brand-new 32-seater Hyundai bus, which was delivered on the spot to enhance mobility and logistics for the NYSC activities.
The announcements were met with applause and appreciation from the corps members present, who expressed gratitude for the governor’s proactive measures to enhance their welfare and prospects. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the state’s commitment to youth empowerment and urged the corps members to utilize the opportunities provided to contribute positively to Lagos State and beyond.
