The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has awarded Sunday’s incomplete match fixture to Enugu Rangers and also imposed a ₦10 million fine on Enyimba Football Club.
The NPFL stated that the decision came after Enyimba players walked off in protest over a penalty awarded during stoppage time. Enugu Rangers was fined ₦5 million for poor match arrangements, including over-ticketing, security breaches, and inadequate crowd control.
The league’s governing body has also mandated Enyimba to identify and present players Chibuike Nwaiwu (No. 27), Eze Ekwutoziam (No. 6), and Elijah Akanni (No. 10) for investigation and potential sanctions.
With the three points and three goals awarded to Enugu Rangers, the Flying Antelopes now lead the table with 65 points, six points ahead of second-placed Enyimba and third-placed Remo Stars.
Additionally, Enyimba’s goal difference has been reduced from 15 to 12, now just one goal ahead of Remo Stars’ 11, adding further pressure on Enyimba as they remain tied with Remo Stars at 59 points.
