The Super Eagles of Nigeria lost to the Malian National Football Team 2-0 on Tuesday night in Marrakech, Morocco.
Nigeria conceded the first goal in the 18th minute via Atalanta Forward, El-bilal Toure after a defensive error from Chidozie Awaziem. The Malians took the lead to the half-time break.
Nantes Winger, Moses Simon was then stretchered off after spurning a glorious chance to equalize during a collision with Malian Goalkeeper, Mamadou Samassa, He was replaced by Rangers Forward, Cyriel Dessers who missed a golden opportunity to level the scores.
The below-par Super Eagles just could not find the equalizer and conceded a second goal in the 84th minute as Brest FC Midfielder, Kamory Doumbia shot the ball past Stanley Nwabali to seal a second straight friendly win for Mali over the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The loss to Mali is now a concern to the Nigeria interim boss, Finidi George as he hopes to get the Vacant Head Coach role of the Super Eagles on a Full-Time basis. The Super Eagles’ next match will be in the 2026 World Cup Qualifier against South Africa on the 6th of June 2024.
