Nigeria Premier League Side, Rivers United has qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup Quarter Finals after defeating Dreams FC of Ghana at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The 2022 NPFL champions were on the brink of elimination in the tournament but Defender, Enyinnaya Kazie scored a 90+10 minute goal to send the Nigerian Team to the Quarter Finals. The much-needed win was enough for the Port-Harcourt-based team to qualify from Group C in second place The Hosts conceded the first goal in the 40th minute as Abdul Aziz Issah scored the first goal for the away side.
Rivers United Forward, Deputy Echeta scored an equalizer in the 61st minute as they continue to mount pressure on the away side. Dreams FC Defender, Seth Agyemang was sent off in the 89th minute after he received a second yellow card. Despite Rivers United’s sustained pressure on the Away side, the Ghanaians tried to hold on for a top spot in the group but Kazie scored the winning goal in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 win for Rivers United.

Despite Dreams FC’s loss, They topped Group C with 12 points, the same points as Rivers United with a better goal difference. In the other group game, North African side, Club Africain finished third with 10 points after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by bottom-placed APC Lobito of Angola. The Quarterfinal draws will be announced later by the Confederation of African Football. The Other Six Teams that qualified for the Quarter Finals were Defending Champions, USM Alger of Algeria, Abu Salem of Libya, Modern Future of Egypt, RS Berkane of Morocco, Stade Malien of Mali and Zamalek of Egypt.
