On Monday evening, an undisclosed number of students were reportedly abducted by unidentified gunmen in the Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The specific details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and the targeted pupils belonged to a school that has yet to be revealed.
The abduction transpired as the students were being transported in their school bus, reaching the Eporo-Ekiti boundary when the unfortunate event occurred.
The precise count of students in the captors’ custody remains undetermined, and the local police authorities have not officially confirmed the incident at this time.
This occurrence follows the tragic killing of two esteemed traditional rulers in the state: Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, and Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, the Elesun of Esun Ekiti.
The monarchs fell victim to an ambush by armed assailants while returning from a meeting. Fortunately, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, managed to evade the attack.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State denounced the heinous act and issued directives to the state’s security forces to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the killings of the two traditional rulers.
