In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi engaged in discussions with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on Thursday.
Wang highlighted the enduring understanding and support between China and Kenya over their 60-year diplomatic ties, emphasising the mutual trust and friendship between the two nations.
He acknowledged Kenya’s commitment to the one-China principle and pledged China’s firm support for Kenya’s sovereignty, independence, and national stability.
Wang expressed China’s readiness to strengthen political mutual trust, deepen comprehensive cooperation, and elevate China-Kenya relations.
Mudavadi echoed Wang’s sentiments, praising the significant achievements in practical cooperation between Kenya and China.
He acknowledged the Belt and Road initiative’s positive impact on Kenya’s national construction and economic development.
Mudavadi reassured the Kenyan government’s unwavering commitment to the one-China principle, standing firmly with China on issues such as Taiwan and human rights.
He expressed eagerness for closer cooperation with China, appreciating China’s global initiatives and expressing Kenya’s willingness to actively participate in them.
Mudavadi also expressed Kenya’s high regard for the concept of a community with a shared future for all, looking forward to learning from China’s development concepts and enhancing the exchange of experiences.
