Sources say the Nigerian Governor died in the early hours of Wednesday on December 27 in Germany at the age of 67.
It was gathered they were unable to transport him overseas, State House physicians cared for him until his passing.
Recall that after a three-month medical leave in Germany, the ill governor came back to Nigeria in September.
After receiving instructions from President Bola Tinubu to transfer authority to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, he recently took another medical leave.
Acting governor Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, has been filling in. Public outrage resulted from Akeredolu’s attempt to manage Ondo State from Ibadan, the capital city, after his return to Nigeria in September.
Betty, Akeredolu’s wife, made the announcement that the events planned for her 70th birthday would not be taking place.
Following inquiries about the intentions to hold a fanfare in spite of her husband’s poor health, the first lady of Ondo announced the events’ suspension via Twitter posts.Betty, in a statement via her X handle, said; “Hello Family and Friends. This is to inform you that all activities lined up to mark my 70th birthday are hereby suspended till further notice due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this development.”
