Eight people have already gone to their early graves as a result of an attack on Jibia Local Government Area in Katsina State by gunmen who were wielding heavy ammunition.
According to eyewitnesses, during the attack on Sunday night, two people were reported missing and four others were reported wounded.
On Monday, a local informed reporters that the victims were ambushed by the terrorists in huge numbers while they were returning from Yan Gayya community to Kukar Babangida village.
He clarified that all of the deceased, who ranged in age from 22 to 47, were from Yan Gayya village and had been buried on Monday morning in accordance with Islamic customs.
“They are Malam Sani Na Gogara, “m” 47 years; Yusuf Dan Karaminsu, “m”, 22 years; Yusuf Jari “m”, 50 years, Sale Lami “m”, 45 years; Dan Hameme, “m”, 45 years; Malam Shafa’i, “m”, 35 years; Malam Dikke, “m” 45 years and Bishir Sani “m”, 30 years.
“And those wounded are Bilyaminu Yan Gayya, Malam Jafaru, Alhaji Lawal Dadi and Dan Husama.
“Similarly, two people are still missing as a result of the attack. They are Alhaji Abdulrashid Yan Gayya and Malam Abdu Teacher”, eyewitness accounted.
Reporters were also given confirmation of the occurrence by ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the state’s police spokesperson in Katsina.
Sadiq, on the other hand, vowed to convey the incident’s circumstances but withheld any further information.
“Yes, eight people were killed, four wounded and two others abducted by the terrorists. I am working out to give you more details”, he stated.
Jibia is situated next to Niger on the Nigerian border. The Batsari, Kaita, Katsina, Batagarawa, and Zurmi Local Government Areas (Zamfara State) are bordered by the local government as well.
