Zanzibar, the captivating tourist destination nestled on the outskirts of Tanzania, has been chosen as the host nation for the prestigious CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals 2024.
The matches will be held at the newly renovated Amaan Stadium from May 21st to May 24th, 2024. The finals of Africa’s premier youth football competition will have esteemed guests, including CAF President, Dr. Motsepe and a lineup of African football legends. This championship edition will showcase the victors from Regional/Zonal Qualifiers, adding an extra layer of excitement and anticipation.
Designed for boys and girls under 15, the CAF African Schools Football Championship embodies CAF President Dr. Motsepe’s vision of investing in Africa’s youth. Following the resounding success of its inaugural season, this year’s competition has witnessed a remarkable 40% increase in participation, with over 800,000 young African talents from nearly 29,000 schools across 44 nations vying for glory.
Beyond the thrill of competition, the championship serves as a platform for holistic development. Through various capacity-building initiatives implemented during the Zonal Qualifiers, scholars, coaches, and educators have had the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge. Programs such as the Young Reporters Programme, Young Referee Programme, and CAF D License Coaching Course have enriched participants’ experiences.
The Finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship promise to be a gathering of stars, with CAF Legends in attendance to inspire and motivate the budding footballers. As the tournament culminates, winners of both the Boys’ and Girls’ categories will be rewarded with USD 300,000, while runners-up and bronze medallists will receive USD 200,000 and USD 150,000 respectively. This generous prize fund, courtesy of CAF’s partnership with the Motsepe Foundation, aims to fuel development projects within participating schools, nurturing the future of African football.
