Akwa-Ibom-based club, Vandrezzer FC has reportedly withdrawn from Nigeria’s second-tier division, The Nigeria National League (NNL) due to financial reasons.
It was reported that the club pulled out of the NNL due to mismanagement and unpaid salaries of staff and players. The club was founded in 2019 and joined the NNL playing its home matches at the Agege Stadium before moving to Akwa-Ibom. It appears the club is struggling to maintain its initial standard as its social accounts do not show any recent activity. The club last posted on its social media accounts on New Year’s Day.
Vandrezzer was scheduled to face Edel FC of Anambra away in their week 16 fixture today but the club will not honour the match. They lost their last match against Ekiti United 2-0 and are currently sitting in 11th position in NNL Conference A with 13 points with 3 wins 4 draws and 8 losses from 15 games.
Vandrezzer FC was well known in Nigeria with the introduction of pre-match activities, live match streaming and commentary, selling of regular and premium match day and seasonal tickets, the introduction of lounges and suites in the executive box sections, implementation of top-notch sound systems in the stadium and others, as they aim to redefine the dynamics of club football in Nigeria.
