The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have won their first match of the 2023 All African Games after defeating South Sudan 1-0 in their second group game.
The Ladan Bosso-led team were disappointing in their first game of the African Games losing 2-1 to Uganda. They dominated the first half but failed to convert their chances as the first half ended in a draw. Eventually, their pressure paid off in the 78th minute as they won a penalty after a South Sudan player committed a foul in the box. Sadiq Isiyiaka converted from the spot to give Nigeria the win.
The flying Eagles will be looking forward to defeat Senegal on Friday to secure qualification for the semi-finals of the men’s football event. Meanwhile , the Nigerian Women Under Under 20 Team, The Falconets defeated their opponents, Senegal 4-0 to qualify for the Semi-Final of the All- Africa Games at the Cape Coast Stadium. Goals from Loveth Edeh, Motunrayo Ezekiel, Chioma Olise, and an own goal were enough to see the Falconets through to the semi-finals.
The Falconets are the defending champion and are in Group B alongside Morocco, Senegal, and Cameroon.
