Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen is a major doubt for their crunch semi-final clash against South Africa on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024.
Osimhen did not travel with the remaining squad to Bouake on Monday due to abdominal discomfort suffered by the player. In a statement released by Nigeria’s football Governing body, NFF said ”Victor Osimhen will not join us on this trip as a result of an abdominal discomfort.
Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a medical team member staying behind in Abidjan with him. If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5 pm.”.
The 25-year-old was stretchered off during the dying minutes of the quarter-final win against Angola and has played in all five of Nigeria’s matches at the tournament, scoring and assisting once so far in the tournament.
Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro and Kelechi Iheanacho will both be speaking at the pre-match conference in Bouake on Tuesday. The three-time African Champions will be seeking to qualify for the final of the tournament for the first time since 2013 where they defeated Burkina Faso to emerge Champions.
We need him back please!
