Numerous African leaders have convened in Rome for the Italy-Africa summit, with the primary goal of enhancing ties between Africa and the European nation.
During the two-day summit, Italy is expected to launch a “new approach” for cooperating with African countries, which is “not predatory, not paternalistic, but not charitable either”, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said.
The focus areas for cooperation encompass energy, economic and infrastructure development, culture, food security, and education, including vocational training.
Commencing on Sunday, the summit additionally seeks to bolster investments in African nations, strategically addressing irregular migration from the continent.
Numerous countries, such as Germany, Russia, and China, have organised analogous summits to fortify their relationships with African nations.
