The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned three-hour blackout in areas served by the Abuja and Benin Distribution Companies (DisCos) due to a maintenance exercise at the Ajaokuta 330/132kV transmission substation.
In a statement released on Friday, July 12, 2024, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah disclosed that the maintenance will take place from 10 AM to 1 PM on the same day. The scheduled annual preventive maintenance will be conducted on the 132kV Ajaokuta-Itakpe-Okenne-Okpella 1-line switchgear.
As a result, both Abuja and Benin DisCos will be unable to offtake bulk power from the substations during this period. “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that its maintenance crew will carry out scheduled annual preventive maintenance on its 132kV Ajaokuta-Itakpe-Okenne-Okpella 1-line switchgear at its Ajaokuta 330/132kV Transmission Substation today, Friday, July 12, 2024, from 10 AM to 1 PM,” Mbah stated.
The statement assured that bulk electricity supply to the affected DisCos will be restored immediately after the maintenance is completed.
