Gunmen, believed to be Boko Haram terrorists, reportedly abducted several passengers on the Maiduguri/Kano highway.
The assailants blocked the road and forcefully took the victims, stranding travellers on both sides of the busy route.
The incident occurred between Garin Kuturu and Mannanari village near Auno, on the Damaturu highway, around 5:50 pm on Monday, sources reported.
“There was an incident between Mannanari and Garin Kuturu where some Boko Haram fighters blocked the upcoming vehicles and some passengers were abducted,” a source confirmed. “We are not sure of the number as we speak but certainly, there was an abduction on Monday evening.”
In a similar incident in February, suspected Boko Haram terrorists kidnapped numerous passengers and killed one person near Mahdiya village in Yobe State.
