Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has stated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to support and encourage Nigerians, families, and vulnerable communities.
She gave this disclosure in Lafia, Nassarawa State, at the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Food Outreach Scheme.
Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, the First Lady appreciated the people for believing in the administration and the Renewed Hope Initiative.
“The Food Outreach Scheme is specially designed to support the underprivileged, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring food security and sufficiency in the country,” she said.
Under this scheme, a trailer load of assorted food items is donated to state governments for distribution to identified groups, courtesy of a public-spirited industry that has committed to making the food items available monthly. The Food Outreach targets Internally Displaced Persons, Persons with Disabilities, Leper Colonies, and other vulnerable groups nationwide to ease access to food.
“So far, the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, and now Nasarawa states have benefitted from the scheme under the Social Investment Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). By God’s grace, our next stop will be in Benue State, while other states will also benefit in due course,” she added.
In addition to the Social Investment programme, the Renewed Hope Initiative also focuses on Health, Agriculture, Education, and Economic Empowerment to better the lives of families across the nation. So far, RHI has donated agricultural implements, provided financial support to women farmers, awarded scholarships to students in tertiary institutions, offered ICT training for women, and provided financial support to the elderly.
She also announced the addition of 1,200 bags of rice to the food packs being distributed and disclosed that RHI will soon commence the disbursement of N50,000 grants to 1,000 female petty traders in each state and the FCT.
Nassarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule, represented by his deputy Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, noted that caring for women, youth, and children has become the hallmark of the First Lady’s RHI, bringing succor to them all. He appreciated the gesture, saying, “Deliver our message to the president, deliver our message to the First Lady. We are behind them, we appreciate them, and we say well done.”
Wife of the Nassarawa State Governor, Hajia Silifat Abdullahi Sule, noted that the Food Outreach demonstrates that vulnerable groups are not forgotten and are important to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Various food items were subsequently distributed to over 1,200 people.
