Under the leadership of Victor Oko-Jumbo, the Rivers State House of Assembly is set to conduct screenings for eight new nominees for commissioner positions.
These nominees, put forth by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, reflect the governor’s ongoing commitment to bolster his administration. The screening which is scheduled to commence at 10:00 am marks the second exercise conducted under Oko-Jumbo’s leadership. Last week’s session resulted in the successful screening and confirmation of Dagogo Iboroma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), as the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state.
Among the eight nominees to undergo screening are prominent figures such as Charles Bekee, a former Commissioner for Commerce and ex-Chairman of the Rivers/Bayelsa Branch of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria; Collins Onunwo, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area; and Solomon Eke, also a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Also on the list includes Peter Medee, former Commissioner for Energy in the previous administration; Barr. Elloka Tasie-Amadi, former Commissioner for Works in the previous administration; Basoene Benibo; Tambari Sydney-Gbara, the immediate past Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state; and Dr. Ovy Chukwuma.
