The Atlas Lioness of Morocco edge closer to their first ever Olympic Games with a 2-1 away win over Zambia on Friday.
This Win places Morocco in a commanding position as they brace for the return leg on Tuesday April 9th 2024 when the host the Copper Queens of Zambia.
The Jorge Vilda led side displayed exceptional resilience and skill to overcome their Zambian counterparts led by Bruce Mwape. Despite facing early pressure, they withstood a penalty scare in the 33rd minute, brilliantly thwarted by Moroccan goalkeeper, Khadija Rmichi, denying Prisca Chilufya’s attempt.
In the 45th minute, Morocco broke the deadlock as Zineb Redouani strike from 30 yards out beats the Zambian goalkeeper, Eunice Sakala.
In the Second-Half, the Moroccans faced relentless pressure until the 80th minute when Lushomo Mweemba scored the equalizer.
The North African side secured the important away victory in the dying minutes of the game with striker ,Rosella Ayane grabbing the winner in the 95th minute.
