A well-armed group of bandits, equipped with advanced weaponry, including AK-47 rifles, launched an assault on a joint military camp in Nahuta village, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina.
The incident occurred around 11:30 pm on Sunday, January 14, as revealed by a security source from the camp.
The attackers, despite outnumbering the camp personnel, were repelled after causing damage to vehicles and valuables. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported during the incident.
He said: “The bandits outweighed us and invaded the camp where they set ablaze our vehicles and property because there was no reinforcement throughout the encounter.”
Following the assault on the military camp, the bandits extended their rampage to Nahuta town.
Engaging in widespread looting, they burgled shops, entered homes, and escaped with valuable possessions and domestic animals, amounting to millions of naira in estimated losses.
Despite these events, security agencies in the North-Western state have not issued an official statement regarding the recent bandit attack at the time of this report.
