It was gathered that the incident occurred around 10:30 am, newqr Kinewba village in Ngala.
The state capital of Maiduguri is around 15 kilometres away from the site of the landmine attack.
The two vehicles involved in the incident were beyond repair, according to a security source.
“The vehicles left Ngala around 900:00 am while the incident occurred about 15 kilometres away. Eight civilians were feared dead including two children, and several others were critically wounded in the landmine blast,” he said.
Nearly every passenger in the two vehicles—an Izuzu van and a lorry—feared they would die when the bomb was stepped on, according to a top civilian JTF source.
