The abducted Chairman of Akwanga Local Area in Nasarawa State, Mr. Safiyanu Isah-Andaha, along with three others, has been freed from captivity.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, confirmed the release on Tuesday in Lafia.
AAN TV reported that gunmen seized the chairman and three others in Ningo village, Akwanga LGA, at around 8:30pm.
They were later released at approximately 8:45 p.m. in Andaha village, Akwanga, following sustained efforts from the combined security agencies’ search-and-rescue team. Notably, no ransom was paid for their release.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, promptly deployed a team upon learning of the abduction, leading to the successful rescue of the victims. After receiving medical attention, the victims are expected to be reunited with their families.
