Asisat Oshoala, the 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year and striker for the Super Falcons, was hosted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The Barcelona Femeni star was congratulated by President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on winning the record-breaking African female footballer of the year award for a record sixth time.
The President congratulated Oshoala and her teammates on their achievements thus far and looked forward to working with them to continue making the country proud..
“What our ladies have achieved in football, is commendable. Keep rising and demonstrating the best of the Nigerian character”.
Oshoala was reassured by the President and the First Lady of the country’s unwavering support for her and other Nigerian women who aspire to be the best in their chosen fields.
Oshoala said: ”I want to appreciate the President and the First Lady for giving me the opportunity to present the award to them. During the last World Cup, we had a couple of issues, and they intervened and have been very supportive to the girls, even after the competition.”
She promised to keep trying her hardest and serve as a deserving representative of the nation in the industry of her choice.
