Four travellers who were abducted on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway last Sunday have been rescued, according to a statement by the Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday.
SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state command, announced that the anti-kidnapping team successfully freed Mr. Ola and three Indian nationals along the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Odutola mentioned that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, had directed the anti-kidnapping unit to launch a manhunt for the perpetrators following the incident. The gunmen had ambushed the travellers between the Sagamu Area Command and Ilisan township.
Wemmy Osude, Chairman of the Ilisan Development Council, noted that some other victims were taken into the bush by the kidnappers.
