The Nigerian Army Aviation is set to receive two Bell UH-1H fighter aircraft in Abuja. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the anticipated arrival in a statement on Thursday.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, will oversee the launch of the aircraft into operations upon their arrival in Nigeria. In September 2023, Lagbaja announced that the Federal Government had approved the purchase of 12 attack helicopters to bolster the army’s capabilities.
The new fighter aircraft are expected to enhance the Nigerian Army’s operational capacity to address the security challenges facing the nation.
